The "face of evil" was the term given the human-like face glimpsed in two 9/11 images of the burning World Trade Center. The top left image, produced by AP photographer Mark Phillips showed the face in black smoke after the second tower had been struck by the incoming jet. The video still at bottom left taken from CNN news coverage shows a face and what some see as the devil's figure in white smoke coming out of the tower upon impact of the second jet.
Other accounts of the faces claim they are the semblance of God as opposed to the devil. In the differing versions of spiritual symbolism, there is no mention of these features having any specific gender. In both cases, the smoke represents the post-worldly presence of either the evil of the 9/11 attackers or the goodness of the souls, both men and women, killed in the attack.
